In 2003 I received a precious gift, a beautiful card. Inside was a quote “To learn is to finally understand something you’ve known all your life but in a new way.” It wasn’t the quote that was a gift but what followed the quote, a reminder to myself of how much I love the work I do. The precious gift was that the boy and dog, who sent me the card, learned responsibility , obedience, respect, patience, and the importance of routine. You see, the boy and dog had been going through a rough time. Life is not always fair. After the time we spent together with training, the boy and dog realized how much they loved and needed each other.
“Today you have accomplished this and in doing so you saved a dog’s life.”
